Somatic Wellness Hub

Welcome

A brave space to reconnect with YOU

Reconnect with your body, mind, emotions and deeper essence to create a life filled with balance, freedom and joy.

So many of us get caught in cycles of over-working, over-achieving and constantly striving. This relentless push makes true rest and presence feel nearly impossible. It’s no wonder we turn to shortcuts like alcohol, over-working, over-exercising, endless scrolling, binge-watching, to quiet the mind chatter and temporarily numb difficult feelings.

Maybe you carry a history of childhood trauma, abuse or significant loss and trauma in adult life. Perhaps you’ve found yourself trapped by toxic positivity, feeling pressured to always appear strong, capable and resilient. This cultural expectation makes it hard to hold space for your authentic emotions or for those we care most about.

But there is another way.

Healing begins when we understand and work compassionately with our nervous system. When we learn how to regulate ourselves, we gain the capacity to truly rest, feel deeply and reconnect with who we really are.

Relaxation Is the Gateway to Healing

Somatic work begins with learning how your body and breath hold tension, bracing and gripping. Together, we gently unwind these patterns, allowing your nervous system to settle into safety.

When we slow down enough to tune in, the body reveals profound wisdom. Bessel van der Kolk famously said, "the body keeps the score," but it also holds the keys to our healing. Creating a safe, supportive environment within your body allows you to access your innate capacity to self-heal.

My Personal Journey: From Survival to Embodied Awareness

Somatics and sobriety opened the door to experiencing myself differently. Slowing down allowed me to loosen the grip of self-criticism, competitiveness and perpetual striving. I discovered a deeper, richer relationship with myself, rooted in presence and genuine self-care.

Removing alcohol created space for deeper self-inquiry, initially through yoga, which eventually led me into somatic therapy during a powerful breakdown-turned-breakthrough. This journey revealed protective parts of myself, long-standing survival strategies and scarcity beliefs that had once served me well, but were now limiting my growth.

Today, meditation and somatic practices help me access and honour my essence nature. The journey hasn't been linear or easy, but it has been profoundly transformative, offering freedom, clarity and joy I once believed were impossible.

This process of reconnection, deep rest and self-leadership is what I'm honoured to share with my clients.

What is Somatic Therapy?

Somatic therapy is a compassionate, body-based approach that helps you shift out of stress, anxiety and ingrained patterns by working directly with your nervous system, emotions and body, not just your thoughts.

While traditional talk therapy focuses primarily on the mind, deep healing must also be felt in the body. If we only analyse our experiences cognitively, we risk staying stuck in loops of overthinking without actually releasing the stored emotional and physiological imprints (Samskara's) that shape our behaviours.

Just as our bodies need to process food for nourishment, our nervous system needs to process (digest) and integrate emotions, stress responses and past experiences. Somatic therapy supports this natural process, helping you move through what was once overwhelming.

In our sessions, we blend:

🔹 Somatic inquiry – gently tuning into body sensations and emotional signals

🔹 Nervous system regulation – learning to shift from stress into calm

🔹 Psychoeducation – understanding how your nervous system, attachment patterns and emotional history shape your current behaviours

🔹 Mind-body practices – including breathwork, grounding, movement and energy work to restore balance and presence

The goal is not just to understand your patterns, but to repattern them. Somatic therapy supports you to embody new ways of being, so you feel more grounded, regulated and free to live a life you don’t need to escape from.

Holding Space for Your Healing

Healing isn’t something we force or rush. It’s about creating space for what’s already present in your system allowing emotions, sensations and patterns to be seen, felt and gently processed in a way that feels safe.

My role is to hold compassionate, non-judgemental space and meet you exactly where you are. We work with what arises naturally, there’s no need to dig for memories or relive painful experiences. If something challenging does emerge, you'll have the support and regulation you need to stay grounded and move through it at your own pace.

At times, we may integrate elements of cognitive work such as CBT, always through a trauma-informed lens. Compulsive behaviours, emotional shutdown or anxious patterns aren’t flaws - they’re intelligent adaptations, ways your body has learned to survive. The goal isn’t to fix you, but to allow past experiences to complete, so they no longer shape how you live, relate and feel in the present

Who I Work With

I support a diverse range of incredible humans, including:

🔸 Coaches, healers and entrepreneurs navigating stress, burnout or emotional blocks.

🔸 Therapists, teachers, carers and helping professionals who give so much but struggle to refill their own cup.

🔸 Yoga instructors and bodyworkers seeking deeper personal healing through somatic therapy.

🔸 Anyone ready to reconnect with their body and emotions and shift old patterns.

Are You Ready for Change?

There are many reasons why someone might seek somatic therapy and it's often the result of a deep sense that something needs to change. If any of the following resonate with you, it might be time to explore how somatic therapy can support you on your journey.

🔸 Stress, anxiety, burnout and nervous system dysregulation

🔸 Depression, low mood and emotional exhaustion

🔸 Trauma healing, complex PTSD and unresolved emotional wounds

🔸 Feeling stuck in cycles of overworking, people-pleasing or procrastination

🔸 Recovering from alcohol or other addictions and breaking emotional habits

🔸Healing from a one-time traumatic experience, such as a car accident or sexual assault

🔸Physcial health challenges especially those related to inflammation in the body

🔸 Navigating and integrating psychedelic experiences including microdosing

🔸 Psychospiritual development and personal growth

🔸 Struggles with boundaries, self-care and building self-worth

🔸 Feeling numb, disconnected or lost during major life transitions

🔸 Seeking a holistic approach to healing beyond traditional therapy

Why These Patterns Persist

These struggles often stem from unresolved trauma, early attachment wounds or a combination of both. Our nervous system, shaped by early relationships and past experiences, adapts to help us survive. While these adaptations can be protective at the time, they may also keep us stuck in survival mode long after the original threat has passed.

Your nervous system stores these past experiences, stress and trauma, shaping how you move through the world today. When it's dysregulated, you might feel:

⚡ On edge – Hypervigilant, anxious or in constant overdrive

🛑 Shut down – Disconnected from emotions, people or even yourself

🔄 Caught in cycles – Swinging between high stress and exhaustion.

Somatic healing helps you shift out of these survival responses and build a deep sense of regulation, resilience and self-trust.

Healing Through Body, Mind, Soul & Emotion

I guide people through somatic healing in a way that is trauma-informed, compassionate and deeply personal. This isn’t about fixing you - it’s about reconnecting with yourself in a way that feels safe and sustainable.

Healing is not one-dimensional. The body, mind, emotions and – if it feels right for you, the spiritual aspect, are all interconnected.

For some, healing is purely nervous system regulation, emotional release and trauma integration. For others, it’s also a deeper inquiry into meaning, intuition and transpersonal experiences. The work meets you where you are, whether you’re drawn to a practical, body-based approach or feel called to explore the deeper layers of self-awareness and consciousness.

Healing also involves experiencing pleasure and vitality within the system. When we heal trauma, we not only release what has been stored or suppressed, but we also create space for pleasure, joy and aliveness to emerge. Our bodies hold the wisdom to bring us back into balance and part of the healing process is rediscovering the pleasure of being fully in our bodies, in the present moment. Pleasure isn’t a luxury, it’s a natural part of our system’s ability to regulate itself and return to a state of harmony.

Healing is personal - but its also collective

However, it’s essential to acknowledge that our struggles are not solely personal but are also shaped by systemic oppression, discrimination and societal conditioning. For those affected, systemic oppression whether in the form of racism, sexism, ableism, classism, homophobia or other structural inequalities, can create additional layers of stress, disconnection and emotional suppression. When the world repeatedly tells us we are not enough or that we must prove our worth, it can make healing feel even more complex.

For those impacted by generational trauma or cultural oppression, healing is not just personal, it’s also about reclaiming agency in a world that, in many ways, has diminished or overlooked it. Healing itself can be an act of quiet resistance, challenging the narratives that have sought to define you.

We live in a toxic culture that often defines worth by productivity and external achievement, promoting an unhealthy narrative that we must constantly “do” to be valued. Capitalism, patriarchy, inequality, consumerism and the ideals of individualism can shape how we view ourselves and our capacity for healing. These systems create a pressure to perform, to push through exhaustion, to seek external validation, all of which prevent us from truly connecting with our innate sense of self-worth.

The struggle to “do more” and “be more” is built into the fabric of our society, often leading to burnout, anxiety and feelings of inadequacy. Healing, therefore, requires not only addressing personal trauma but also considering how these societal pressures impact us and contribute to feelings of disconnection, overwhelm and self-doubt. Healing involves not only reclaiming your body, mind and emotions but also reclaiming your worth beyond the mainstream paradigm.

There’s no right or wrong way to heal. I hold space for whatever aspects of this journey feel most relevant to you, whether it’s confronting personal trauma, unlearning harmful cultural narratives or learning how to live in a world that values you for who you truly are, not just what you produce.

“I have come to the conclusion that human beings are born with an innate capacity to triumph over trauma. I believe not only that trauma is curable, but that the healing process can be a catalyst for profound awakening - a portal opening to emotional and genuine spiritual transformation.”

About

Meet Laura

I’m a trauma-informed somatic therapist, certified yoga and meditation teacher and licensed social worker with over 25 years of experience - 19 of those specialising in mental health, trauma and substance misuse.

But beyond the credentials, I’m someone who’s walked the messy, beautiful and often confusing path of healing myself.

Whether it’s alcohol, overworking, people-pleasing or emotional eating, I understand how easy it is to disconnect from yourself in order to cope. My work is about gently guiding people back into connection with their body, emotions and deeper truth - in a way that feels safe, spacious and empowering.

My approach blends somatic therapy, nervous system regulation, movement, mindfulness and deep self-inquiry. It’s trauma-informed, spiritually aware and always centred around the belief that you are not broken. You are whole — even if it doesn’t always feel that way.

My Philosophy

Healing isn't simply about giving something up, it's about understanding why you reached for it in the first place.

The habits you struggle with whether alcohol, stress, perfectionism or avoidance are rarely conscious choices. They're adaptive responses of your nervous system, strategies your body and mind have developed to survive. True transformation happens when you reconnect with your body, learn how to calm your nervous system and create new ways of being that foster genuine safety, balance and resilience.

I call this holistic somatic wellness: a way of living that honours the body as sacred, the mind as a helpful tool and the heart as the bridge to your deepest truth.

My approach is also gently informed by my personal practice and lived study of classical tantrik yoga, a spiritual path recognising inherent wholeness at the core of every experience. While I don't explicitly teach this philosophy, it quietly shapes how I hold space: knowing deeply that we aren't here to be fixed, but rather to compassionately meet whatever arises with presence and safety.

For some, this work simply provides a profound sense of acceptance and inner calm. For others, it opens doors to deeper spiritual inquiry, a journey into understanding who we truly are beneath all the layers of conditioning and coping.

Whether your goal is emotional regulation, trauma healing or reconnecting with a deeper sense of self, this somatic work invites you back to your body as a safe haven, gently revealing that everything you've been seeking has always been within you.
